BOWLING GREEN, Ky. — Recovery efforts continue a week after an EF4 tornado hit Laurel and Pulaski Counties. People in Bowling Green are gathering supplies to help their fellow Kentuckians in need.
The EF4 tornado was on the ground for nearly 60 miles, killing 19 Kentuckians and decimating neighborhoods.
“This tornado event is devastating,” Gov. Andy Beshear, D-Ky., said.
People across the state are stepping up to help with recovery efforts.
“It’s enough to make a grown man cry,” James Bowles, member of Blue collar Boys Promotions, said. “As of right now, this trailer is completely empty. I want to see this trailer full.”
Blue collar Boys Promotions is one of many organizations collecting supplies for people affected by the storm. Bowles and his crew are collecting canned food, water, fresh clothes and more.
“Any kind of cleaning supplies to help those who may have not lost a whole house but has a lot of damage to their house,” Bowles said.
The organization will be taking donations at the AG building in Lampkin Park on Friday from noon until 7:00 p.m.
“Anything is better than nothing to help get them pointed in the right direction,” Bowles said.
You can get more information about what you can and cannot donate by phone.
